Drag Queen or Sex Offender Story Hour? Either Way, It’s a Disturbing Existence

How could this happen? Why wasn’t more done to vet the individual who would be reading to children in a public library? To flip burgers at McDonald’s even requires a person to receive a basic background check, let alone reading books to impressionable children at a public library. Why hasn’t this convicted sex offender been arrested? These are just a few questions that should be answered after a convicted sex offender was allowed to read to children in the Houston Library dressed up as a woman.

Albert Alfonso Garza (aka) Tatiana Mala-Niña, recently participated in the Drag Queen Story time program, in which drag queens read books to children. No, this is not a script from the Rod Serling classic The Twilight Zone, but actual real life. Library officials admitted in a statement that Garza has “a criminal background that should have prevented him from participating” in the program at the Freed-Montrose Library (Scherer, 2019).

What’s more disheartening is that conservative Christian groups have sought background information regarding the drag queen storytellers by filing a public records requests to no avail. Fortunately, Garza’s history was uncovered through his social media account.

Common Sense and Decency Abandoned?

Back in October of 2018, I wrote an essay about the sexualization of children within public schools and the social construction of reality. Among other things, I discussed the ongoing effort within society to expose young children to adult themes and how this is done through the guise of acceptance and diversity inclusion. In fact, KHOU 11 did a report on the drag queen story time program and shed a (positive) light on the initiative. The parents who were interviewed in the report talked about exposing their children early to people that are different than themselves at a young age so it basically won’t be a big deal when they get older.

In my mind this is a sick and convoluted mind set to where as a parent you would expose your child to an adult themed concept. The children in this KHOU 11 report don’t look any older than 3–5 years old, yet a man dressed as a woman is telling them to “shake their butts”. It’s sick!

Where has common sense and decency hidden itself from the likes of men and women who practice such shameful acts? Why must our children be used as pawns in evilness guised as fairness and inclusion? Nevertheless, at the end of the KHOU 11 report, one of the anchors essentially says, “it’s good to start them young”. Gross.

A Time of Reckoning

As a self-described social conservative, I must say a program like Drag Queen Story time disturbs me. Is the city of Houston and other municipalities so desperate to pander to the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) community that they would put children at risk to convicted felons? Moreover, is the city of Houston that incompetent that they couldn’t even do a simple background check on someone who would have access to children? Are parents that desperate (and liberal) that they would expose their children to adult themes that in any other space would be viewed as perverted?

One can only wonder when the time will come where a line will be crossed and society will not be able to go back to what is descent and sane. Some would argue this notion is full of hyperbole, but I would disagree. There always comes a time of reckoning within civilizations that become too decadent and hedonistic. If America doesn’t wake up out the trance of evilness and debauchery, our fall is not only likely but inevitable.
